The recessed design provides clearance and stable access to flat surfaces.

What it actually does:

Productive material removal with controlled surface refinement.
Removes marks from rough grinding and establishes stable geometry.

Grain size (M25 ≈ 28/20 μm):

• Higher stock removal than finer micron grits
• Typical Ra ~ 0.15–0.30 μm
• Prepares surface for M20 → M16 → M10 sequence

In practice:

This is an entry step of finishing process.
Used after rough grinding and before M20.
Focus is productivity with controlled geometry preparation.
