Short Description
6A2 Diamond Grinding Wheel – Flat Recessed Type | FEPA D91 (80/63 μm)
6A2 flat recessed diamond grinding wheel for controlled rough grinding of flat surfaces.
Designed for carbide inserts, cutting tools and technical glass.
Where it is actually used:
Used for flat surface grinding and insert sharpening with reduced grinding forces.
Typical applications include:
- Grinding on low-rigidity machines
- Sharpening of thin or vibration-prone tools
- Operations sensitive to heat and stability
What it actually does:
Moderate material removal with smoother cutting behavior.
Reduces load on spindle and improves process stability.
Grain size (D91 ≈ 80/63 μm):
- Controlled stock removal
- Typical Ra ~ 0.4–1.0 μm
- Prepares surface for M63 → M40 sequence
Concentration 50% means:
- Lower grinding forces
- Open structure → better chip evacuation
- Reduced heat generation
- Smoother, more stable cutting
- Trade-off: lower tool life vs 100%
In practice:
This is a low-load roughing wheel.
Used when machine rigidity is limited or vibration is present.
Prioritizes stability over productivity.
Specification:
- Type: 6A2 (flat recessed)
- Abrasive: Synthetic diamond (AC4)
- Grit: FEPA D91 ≈ 80/63 μm (ANSI 170/200)
- Concentration: 50%
-
Body: P / A / S / Ap
(Pressed / Aluminum / Steel / Aluplast)
Body options:
- Pressed: lighter weight, vibration damping, better surface finish
- Aluminum: lightweight with good rigidity
- Steel: maximum rigidity for heavy-duty grinding
- Aluplast: balanced weight and rigidity
Why 50% concentration:
- Reduced cutting forces
- Better control in unstable setups
- Lower risk of burning
Use for:
- Carbide inserts
- Precision tools
- Technical glass
- Controlled rough grinding
Do not use for:
- Maximum productivity grinding
- Finishing operations
- Steel
