Short Description
6A2 Diamond Grinding Wheel – Flat Recessed Type | FEPA D181 (180/150 μm)
6A2 flat recessed diamond grinding wheel for controlled extreme rough grinding of flat surfaces.
Designed for carbide inserts, cutting tools and technical glass.
Where it is actually used:
Used for flat surface grinding and insert sharpening at earliest stage under reduced load conditions.
Typical applications include:
- Initial grinding on low-rigidity machines
- Heavy reconditioning with vibration-sensitive setups
- Bulk material removal with limited spindle power
What it actually does:
Extreme material removal with smoother and more stable cutting behavior.
Reduces grinding forces while maintaining effective stock removal.
Grain size (D181 ≈ 180/150 μm):
- Very high stock removal rate
- Typical Ra ~ 1.5–3.0 μm
- Prepares surface for D151 → D126 sequence
Concentration 50% means:
- Reduced grinding forces
- Highly open structure → excellent chip evacuation
- Lower heat generation
- Smoother and more forgiving cutting
- Trade-off: reduced tool life vs 100%
In practice:
This is a low-load extreme roughing wheel.
Used when maximum material removal is required but machine stability is limited.
Prioritizes control over productivity.
Specification:
- Type: 6A2 (flat recessed)
- Abrasive: Synthetic diamond (AC4)
- Grit: FEPA D181 ≈ 180/150 μm (ANSI 80/100)
- Concentration: 50%
-
Body: P / A / S / Ap
(Pressed / Aluminum / Steel / Aluplast)
Body options:
- Pressed: lighter weight, vibration damping, better surface finish
- Aluminum: lightweight with good rigidity
- Steel: maximum rigidity for heavy-duty grinding
- Aluplast: balanced weight and rigidity
Why 50% concentration:
- Lower cutting forces
- Improved stability in difficult setups
- Reduced thermal load
Use for:
- Carbide inserts
- Precision tools
- Technical glass
- Controlled extreme rough grinding
Do not use for:
- Maximum productivity grinding
- Finishing operations
- Steel
