Where it is actually used:

Used for precision sharpening of flat surfaces and inserts at transition stage between rough and finishing.
Typical applications include:

• Face grinding of carbide inserts after rough grinding
• Preparation of flat tool surfaces before micron sequence
• Grinding of technical glass and brittle materials

The recessed design provides clearance and stable access to flat surfaces.

What it actually does:

Moderate material removal with initial surface stabilization.
Removes marks from D91 / D107 and prepares surface for finishing sequence.

Grain size (M40 ≈ 40/28 μm):

• Moderate stock removal
• Typical Ra ~ 0.20–0.40 μm
• Transition step before M25 → M20 sequence

In practice:

This is a transition wheel.
Used after rough grinding and before M25.
Focus is stabilizing geometry before finishing.
