Short Description
4B2 Diamond Grinding Wheel – Dish Type | FEPA D91 (80/63 μm)
4B2 dish grinding wheel for rough sharpening and preparation of tool face surfaces.
Designed for carbide and other hard brittle materials.
Where it is actually used:
Used for face grinding and sharpening at rough stage of machining.
Typical applications include:
- Initial face grinding of end mills and milling cutters
- Sharpening of carbide saw blades
- Preparation of reamers before micron sequence
The dish shape provides accurate contact on flat and angular surfaces.
What it actually does:
Productive material removal with basic control of surface geometry.
Removes material quickly and establishes flatness before finer grinding.
Grain size (D91 ≈ 80/63 μm):
- High stock removal rate
- Typical Ra ~ 0.4–1.0 μm
- Leaves visible grinding marks
In practice:
This is a starting wheel for face grinding.
Used before M63 → M40 → M25 sequence.
Focus is material removal and geometry setup.
Specification:
- Type: 4B2 (dish)
- Abrasive: Synthetic diamond (AC4)
- Grit: FEPA D91 ≈ 80/63 μm (ANSI 170/200)
- Concentration: 100%
-
Body: P / A / S / Ap
(Pressed / Aluminum / Steel / Aluplast)
Body options:
- Pressed: lighter weight, vibration damping, better surface finish
- Aluminum: lightweight with good rigidity, general-purpose solution
- Steel: maximum rigidity for heavy-duty grinding
- Aluplast: balanced weight and rigidity
Why this shape:
- Accurate face contact
- Access to cutting edges
- Suitable for angular surfaces
Use for:
- Face grinding
- Tool sharpening
- Initial grinding
Do not use for:
- Fine finishing (use M63 → M10)
- Polishing
- Steel
