1FF1 Diamond Grinding Wheel – Double-Sided Conical Profile | FEPA M20 (20/14 μm)
1FF1 flat diamond wheel with double-sided conical profile for controlled grinding of cutting tool features.
Designed for carbide and other hard brittle materials.
Where it is actually used:
Used for grinding chip-breaking flutes and narrow profiles where geometry needs to be formed before finishing.
Typical applications include:
- Initial shaping of chip breaker geometry on end mills and drills
- Grinding of narrow flutes and grooves
- Profile preparation before fine finishing
The double-sided conical profile enables controlled geometry generation with stable contact.
What it actually does:
Controlled material removal for geometry formation and pre-finishing.
Prepares the surface for M16 → M10 sequence, reducing load on finer wheels.
Grain size (M20 ≈ 20/14 μm):
- Noticeable stock removal with controlled surface quality
- Typical Ra ~ 0.08–0.20 μm
- Removes marks from previous stages
More productive and less sensitive than finer micron grits.
In practice:
This is the first step in finishing sequence for profile features.
Used before M16 and M10 to establish correct geometry.
Focus is controlled removal and process stability.
Specification:
- Type: 1FF1 (double-sided conical)
- Abrasive: Synthetic diamond (АСН)
- Grit: FEPA M20 ≈ 20/14 μm (ANSI ~1000)
- Concentration: 100%
-
Body: P / A / S / Ap
(Pressed / Aluminum / Steel / Aluplast)
Body options:
- Pressed: lighter weight, vibration damping, better surface finish
- Aluminum: lightweight with good rigidity, general-purpose solution
- Steel: maximum rigidity for heavy-duty grinding
- Aluplast: balanced weight and rigidity
Why this shape:
- Access to narrow grooves
- Controlled profile generation
- No interference in tight areas
Use for:
- Chip breaker flutes
- Tool profile grinding
- Pre-finishing of grooves
Do not use for:
- Open flat surfaces
- Final polishing (use M16 / M10)
- Aggressive stock removal
