Short Description
1A1 Diamond Grinding Wheel – FEPA M40 (40/28 μm) | B2-01 Bond
Straight diamond wheel (1A1) for semi-rough and semi-finish grinding.
Designed for carbide, ceramics and other hard brittle materials.
What it actually does:
Efficient material removal with initial surface refinement.
Less aggressive than D46, but significantly more productive than micron finishing wheels.
Grain size (M40 ≈ 40/28 μm):
Transition grit between standard diamond grains and micron range.
- Good material removal with improved surface vs D46
- Typical Ra ~ 0.15–0.30 μm
- Prepares surface for M25/M20 stages
More stable and less sensitive than finer grits.
Bond (B2-01):
- Self-sharpening behavior
- Controlled heat generation
- Stable cutting process
- Suitable for semi-rough and semi-finish grinding
In practice:
This is a transition wheel.
Used after rough grinding (D64/D46) to stabilize geometry before M25/M20.
Can replace D46 when better surface quality is required without losing too much productivity.
Specification:
- Type: 1A1 (straight)
- Abrasive: Synthetic diamond (АСН)
- Grit: FEPA M40 ≈ 40/28 μm
- Bond: B2-01 (resin-based)
- Concentration: 100%
- Body: P (pressed composite)
(Aluminum or Steel on request)
Concentration 100%:
- High cutting stability
- Consistent stock removal
- Long wheel life
- Note: can load under excessive pressure
Body type (P):
- Lightweight design
- Vibration damping
- Improves surface stability
- Limit: lower rigidity vs steel
Use for:
- Carbide semi-rough grinding
- Geometry preparation
- Transition to M25/M20
- Ceramics / glass
Do not use for:
- Steel
- Heavy roughing (better use D64/D91)
- Unstable grinding conditions
